Why I’m Grateful for Sea Change Yoga

Gratitude and Sea Change Yoga

In the spirit of giving thanks, I’m delighted to give a shout out to a cause that’s close to my heart, Sea Change Yoga.

Picture this: it’s a sunny September morning in Maine. The year is 2021 and I’m at Sunflower Farm, a blissful oasis in Cumberland, Maine. I’m attending a donation yoga class that farm owner Hope Hall was hosting. Goats weave around yoga mats to munch on hay. Dragonflies circle overhead. And I learn how Sea Change Yoga brings the healing power of yoga to those who can truly benefit from it.

I wanted to learn more!

On a Mission to Make Yoga Accessible to ALL

This compassionate organization provides free classes to people facing some of the most unstable, chaotic, vulnerable circumstances. Each month, Sea Change Yoga instructors trained in trauma-informed yoga teach more than 100 classes.

No other Maine nonprofit does that!

People you might recognize

Can you spot a friend, neighbor or family member here: Older Mainers. Youth. People with disabilities. New Mainers. People in recovery, in transitional and supported housing, and people living in correctional facilities. These are the people and places Sea Change Yoga connects with.

While a yoga mat can serve as an oasis away from daily stressors, when you’re dealing with trauma, that silence can be intimidating.

Sea Change Yoga instructors know how to teach with compassion, understanding and humility.

We need more of this in the world!

How Can I Help? But I don’t live in Maine, now what?

I’m glad you asked!

You CAN help support and expand the level of offerings. Volunteer. Donate. Spread the word.

For every $6.00 donated, you enable one person to take a class. Sponsor a class for $60.00. Imagine what you can do!
