Can you hear it? Seems like there’s a lot of noise out there. The election. News. Endless scrolling. Personal and professional drama.
I feel stress even more these days.
I'm ready for this to be over.
The election. Please! But what do I do in the meantime?
These feelings remind me of the pandemic and when we were uncertain if or when “Normal” would return. Even when the 2024 election is over, the drama will continue.
So how can we collectively work through uncertainty to create calm and inner peace in our lives?
Walking my talk
I've decided to step out into nature. Daily walks, short or long, help me drink in all the warmth and late autumn color here in Maine. When I come back from being in Nature, I feel renewed. I've hit the reset button!
What if you’re pressed for time?
You don't have to walk for an hour to absorb the healthy vibes.
Here are a few Super Easy Ideas:
Listen to bird songs or ocean waves on an app for three minutes.
Turn off or store your phone away and disconnect from technology. Even a few minutes can help!
Stare out a window and take in the view. Describe what you see to yourself as if you’re a reporter.
Talk to your plants!
Take three rounds of gentle, deep breaths in and out. Slowing down your breathing helps regulate your system from fight or flight to rest and renew.
Count three things you see. Three things you hear. Three things you smell or sense.
Sing along to your favorite tune. Add a few funky dance steps if you can!
Work on that art project you’ve been putting off or play an instrument.
Get up from your desk and take a short stroll down the hall or outside.
The point is it doesn't have to be fancy, expensive, or drastic.

Being gentle with yourself.
Making things easy.
Returning to the “Here and Now” to quiet monkey mind.
